Happy Daddy's Day: Checking In

Dear Grandpa,

How have you been doing?  Have the angels been treating you well?  I'm sure they have.  When we last chatted, I hinted there was going to be an upcoming ceremony.  Well, since our last correspondence, the event has happened.  I do wish you were there.  No, it wasn't the shin dig that was originally planned, but I know you understand why things couldn't be that way at this time.

In your mind, I know you feel it was long overdue.  Sweetie wouldn't have heard the end of it if many years had passed and he still "hadn't done the right thing by me."  No, there wasn't any type of rush (like my being pregnant and what not), although there have been a few people who have asked.

Guess what type of shoes he wore to the ceremony?  I couldn't help it.  You know I'm a fan of Stacy Adams.  His wasn't the rounded ones (at least not the black ones).  The brown ones he has are rounded.  I found a special deal on them at this website.  He wore the black ones.  The pointed toes looked pretty cool on him.

I know you told me that I'd have to ride that fine line between learning and progress.  There has been lots of improvement but there are some people who make their pathway a lot harder than they need to be.  Yes, you know what I mean.

As far as my mom and me, there's still distance.  She has reached out to me a few times--one time even acting as if she was going to die from this heart surgery she was having.  She never gave me details about when she was going to be in the hospital so I really couldn't gather if there was any truth to it or not.  I did let her know I was married but I haven't received any type of reaction.

Well, I don't have much...at least to write down.  You know what's in my head and in my heart.  I know that everything will work out in the end.  You're in heaven to watch over me.

I love you, always!
