8. What is your definition of rape? Date rape?
Rape has nothing to do with sex, although the act of sex occurs. It has everything to do with power, humiliation, degradation. It’s taking of someone’s essence without consent. To continue when the person has emphatically told you, “No, it’s not going down.” Rape is worse with someone you are trying to get to know--dating, even someone you are already with--to me that is date rape.
Because I have been the victim of this, I know I will never be able to act out any type of scenes involving “faux rape”. I wouldn’t be able to tell myself mentally that it’s not really happening; it just hits too close to home.
